3M™ Scotchlok™ Insulation Displacement Connector 557 provides a dual element connection. The connector is polypropylene insulated and used to connect 2 wires while insulating the connection. It is self stripping and flame retardant.
3M™ Scotchlok™ Insulation Displacement Connector 557 is 600V rated for building wire and 1000V rated for signs, fixtures and luminaires. It withstands temperatures of 221 degrees F (105 degrees C). UL Listed, CSA Certified and RoHS 2011/65/EU Compliant.
Application
Use Scotchlok™ Pigtail 557 to electrically connect two wire ends and insulate the connection.
Wire Range
22-16 AWG solid or stranded, (0,5-1,0 mm2 solid or stranded and 1,5 mm2 solid) tinned or untinned copper conductors. For use with common thermoplastic insulated wires such as: T, TF, TFF, TFN, TFFN, AWN, TEW, SAE-GPT, with a maximum insulation diameter of .120 inches (3,0mm). Maximum recommended current for general purpose applications:
22 AWG – 3 Amps, 20 AWG – 4 Amps,
18 AWG – 7 Amps, 16 AWG – 10 Amps

Engineering Specification
The connector shall be UL Listed as a pressure cable connector shall be voltage rated 600 volts maximum, building wire; 1000 volts maximum signs, fixtures, and luminaires. The connector shall have a maximum operating temperature of 105˚C. The connector shall also meet the intent of the Standard for Portable Electric Lamps, UL 153, specifically Paragraph 14.2, when housed within the body of the lamp.

Installation Instructions
WARNING
Turn power off before installing or removing terminal. All electrical work should be done according to appropriate electrical codes.
- Insert unstripped wire completely and check their position in the inspection ports.
- Hold tool perpendicular to the wire and make the connection by driving the u-connection down flush with the top of the insulator.
- Close hinged top cover until latched.
