The Gaikundo Factory, situated in the picturesque Mukurweini area of Nyeri County on Mt. Kenya's slopes, produces renowned coffee cherished for its distinct flavor.

Established in 1986 by small-scale farmers, Gaikundo became an independent factory dedicated to crafting exceptional coffee. Predominantly cultivating SL 28 and SL 34 varietals, the process begins with hand-picking ripe cherries, followed by meticulous sorting to ensure quality.

Cherries undergo anaerobic fermentation and sun-drying before a second sorting and storage. Finally, parchment coffee is milled, graded, and bagged.

This careful process, coupled with the region's unique conditions, yields a coffee noted for its red plum, prune, citrus flavors, and winey finish. Gaikundo coffee reflects the dedication and expertise of its farmers, making it a prized choice for global connoisseurs.
