The tester calculates the corresponding parameters according to selected measuring conditions and clearly displays all measurement parameters in Metric or Imperial units.
The tester also features 4 wave filtering methods (RC, PC-RC, GAUSS, and D-P) and can store 7 groups of measurement results and conditions for later use.

When measuring the roughness of a surface, the sensor is placed on the surface and uniformly slides along it. The sharp built-in probe detects surface roughness, causing displacement that generates an analogue signal in proportion to the surface roughness. This signal is processed by an exclusive DSP and displayed on the LCD.
